We caught up with Mike City 806, the driving force behind Mike City Records, to talk about his latest projects, his Southern roots, and the championship mindset that fuels his every move.

Q: Tell us who Mike City 806 is in your own words.

Mike City 806:
I’m a family-first type of guy. I’m here to feed my family off this music and change people’s lives—one bar at a time. I got a chip on my shoulder, something to prove. This ain’t just about fame, it’s about setting my kids up so they’re on autopilot for life. I’m talking about generational wealth and legacy.

Q: How did you get started in music?

Mike City 806:
Man, 2010 was the year I fell in love with making real music. Before that, I was always around it, playing piano and saxophone, but 2010? That’s when I knew this was my calling. Been locked in ever since.

Q: What inspires your sound and style?

Mike City 806:
I’m Southern to the core. I grew up bumping that old-school—2Pac, early Lil Wayne, old Drake, even Morgan Wallen. But you’ll catch me listening to Young Dolph, Key Glock, Big X Tha Plug, NBA YoungBoy, Lil Baby. It’s all about that Southern grind with a global flavor. And Timberland? Big influence. I like to keep it soulful and gritty, but polished.

Q: Your new single “All In” just dropped. Tell us about it.

Mike City 806:
Yeah, “All In” dropped on 3/16/25, produced by Steve C. It’s that smooth, fun, melodic joint—perfect for spring, summer, or whenever you just tryna vibe. I wanted to step away from that hard, cuss-heavy style for a minute and create something you can play with your girl, your homies, or just cruising solo. It’s a feel-good track, but still me. Definitely one for repeat.

Q: What else can fans expect from Mike City Records this year?

Mike City 806:
Big things. New music dropping all 2025, merch is on the way too—“Will Work For Success” tees coming soon. Plus, I got a podcast and interviews lined up. I’m working on a new EP as we speak. Everything is about leveling up, staying consistent, and showing love to the community that raised me.

Q: Speaking of community, how important is giving back to you?

Mike City 806:
It’s everything. The 806 made me, so I gotta give back. Whether it’s motivating through music, doing events, or just pulling up for the youth, I’m all about it. This ain’t just music; this is purpose.

Q: Any final words for your fans and supporters?

Mike City 806:
Stay tuned. I’m going “All In” this year—no half-stepping. The mission is bigger than me, and every song I drop is for the people who believed in me from day one. Appreciate y’all, and trust, this is only the beginning.
