President Biden’s re-election campaign hit a bump when he struggled during interviews with two Black radio hosts. In one instance, he fumbled over his words, claiming to have been the “first Black woman to serve with a Black president.” The president also stumbled during a Fourth of July speech and made factual errors about his own achievements.
Despite these missteps, President Biden and his team are working hard to showcase his strengths and dispel doubts following his lackluster debate performance against Donald J. Trump. The president’s upcoming interviews and campaign events aim to reassure voters, donors, and activists that he is a strong contender for re-election.
During a radio interview with Black listeners, President Biden struggled to articulate his accomplishments and stumbled over his words. He emphasized the importance of voting and criticized Mr. Trump’s actions, occasionally interrupting himself mid-sentence. Despite these challenges, he remained focused on highlighting his achievements and contrasting them with his opponent’s policies.
In another instance, President Biden refrained from using profanity when discussing Mr. Trump’s treatment of veterans, showing restraint and composure. At the end of the interview, he candidly admitted to his debate blunder, acknowledging his mistake and vowing to do better in the future.
