Exciting Changes to NFL Kickoff Rules Spark Offense in Week 1
Last season, the NFL saw a record-low 22 percent of kickoffs returned, with only four resulting in touchdowns. To boost excitement and incentivize players to return kickoffs, the league introduced new rules for the 2024 season.
In a thrilling Week 1 matchup, Cardinals returner DeeJay Dallas stole the show with a spectacular 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Breaking tackles and outrunning defenders, Dallas dove past the kicker to score, sparking a comeback for his team.

This touchdown was a first for Dallas in both his NFL and collegiate careers, showcasing his explosive return skills. Despite a slow start, the new kickoff rules promised more excitement, with multiple returns of over 50 yards in the first week alone.
The Bills managed to hold on to their lead against the Cardinals, securing a 34-28 victory in Week 1. Looking ahead, Buffalo will face off against division rival Miami on “Thursday Night Football” in Week 2.
