After a thrilling game against Texas Tech, the Abilene Christian football team faced a terrifying bus accident on their way back home. The incident, which occurred just off Texas Tech’s campus late Saturday night, left four people injured, including three team members.

According to reports from KTAB in Lubbock, the accident was caused by a 19-year-old who ignored traffic signals and collided with the team’s bus as they were making their way back to Abilene. The university confirmed that one student-athlete, two coaches, and the bus driver sustained minor injuries and were taken to the University Medical Center in Lubbock for treatment.

The quick response and care provided by Texas Tech’s director of athletics Kirby Hocutt, team physician Dr. Michael Phy, and first responders were greatly appreciated by the university. The community came together to support those affected by the accident, showcasing the power of solidarity in difficult times.

Reports indicated that the 19-year-old driver, identified as Parker Young, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. He is currently in custody at the Lubbock County jail, facing the consequences of his reckless actions.

Despite the unfortunate incident, Texas Tech managed to secure a close victory over ACU with a score of 52-51, halting a 2-point conversion attempt in overtime. The game was filled with excitement and tension, making the outcome even more memorable for both teams.
