Clint Keaveny made a bold statement at a recent rally in Madison, Wis., where he held up a sign behind President Biden that read, “Pass the torch, Joe.” Little did he know, this simple act would cost him his role with a Democratic congressional campaign.

The rally was part of President Biden’s weekend campaign events in crucial states following his lackluster debate performance. As cameras captured the moment, Mr. Keaveny proudly displayed his homemade sign, catching the attention of his boss.

Before the event even concluded, Kristin Lyerly, the Democratic congressional candidate Mr. Keaveny was volunteering for, had seen the viral images online. She promptly asked him to disassociate from the campaign, citing the sign’s inconsistency with their values.

Reflecting on his decision to hold up the sign, Mr. Keaveny, 27, expressed his belief that President Biden may not be able to defeat Trump in the upcoming election. Despite feeling like a “black sheep,” he stands by his convictions.

This incident underscores the growing discussions within the Democratic Party regarding loyalty to President Biden and calls for a potential new nominee. Meanwhile, Dr. Lyerly continues her campaign for the vacant seat in northeast Wisconsin.
