MONZA, Italy — The much-anticipated Formula One debut of Andrea Kimi Antonelli was full of both promise and drama. The 18-year-old driver set the pace in the early stages of his first practice session ahead of the Italian Grand Prix but unfortunately suffered a crash at Parabolica, Turn 11, which brought his session to an abrupt end. Despite the setback, Antonelli emerged physically unscathed and humbled by the experience, vowing to approach future runs more cautiously.

Shortly after the incident, it was announced that Antonelli would be joining the Mercedes team in 2025, adding to the excitement surrounding this young driver. As the third confirmed rookie for the upcoming season, Antonelli’s rapid rise through the ranks has raised questions about his readiness for Formula One.

Mercedes, however, has expressed confidence in Antonelli’s abilities, emphasizing his natural speed and potential. Teammate George Russell believes in Antonelli’s talent and sees him as a valuable asset in Mercedes’ quest to reclaim the top spot on the grid.
