San Francisco 49ers Rookie Ricky Pearsall Released from Hospital After Robbery Attempt

Just one day after San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was shot during an attempted robbery in San Francisco, the rookie was released from the hospital Sunday afternoon, the team announced.

Pearsall, who did not require surgery, remained awake and lucid during his hospital stay, as confirmed by a league source. His family was by his side Saturday night, showing their unwavering support.

“He and his family, along with the entire San Francisco 49ers organization, would like to thank the San Francisco Police Department, emergency medical services, doctors and staff at San Francisco General Hospital,” the 49ers said in a statement Sunday.

Upgraded to “fair condition” earlier in the day, Pearsall, 23, is on the road to recovery, much to the relief of fans, teammates, and loved ones.

According to police reports, Pearsall was shot in the Union Square area of San Francisco after a suspect approached him, sparking a physical altercation. Both Pearsall and the suspect suffered gunshot wounds during the incident.

On Saturday, authorities announced the arrest of a 17-year-old suspect from Tracy, Calif., located east of San Francisco. The police chief confirmed that the suspect’s gun was found at the scene, shedding light on the unfortunate events.

During his conversation with Pearsall, Police Chief William Scott noted that there was no indication of the NFL player being specifically targeted. The investigation suggests that the suspect acted alone.

Pearsall, the 31st pick in this year’s draft, is known for his standout performances during his collegiate career at Arizona State and Florida, showcasing his talent and determination on the field.
