The Claremont Institute, a prominent intellectual center of the pro-Trump right, has long been situated in Southern California, overlooking the San Gabriel Mountains. However, in recent years, key figures from Claremont have been quietly relocating to more ideologically aligned areas. Ryan P. Williams, the institute’s president, made the move to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, followed by several others, including Michael Anton, who played a crucial role in securing conservative support for Mr. Trump in 2016.

As the pro-Trump movement gains momentum, many of its young activists and thinkers see themselves as part of a larger project aimed at reclaiming the values of Western civilization. They envision a future shaped by their interpretation of Christian values, with a focus on traditional family structures, limited immigration, and a return to classical aesthetics. This vision includes a desire for stronger local leadership and a reduced federal bureaucracy, exemplified by recent Supreme Court decisions that curtail the power of the government.

In response to what they perceive as a deteriorating secular culture, many supporters of the movement are seeking refuge in states and regions that align with their beliefs, creating conservative enclaves where they can advocate for their vision of America. The establishment of institutions like the Society for American Civic Renewal reflects this desire for community and shared values, prioritizing in-person connections and a focus on Christian identity.

Despite criticism from detractors who accuse them of promoting homogeneity and extremism, members of the movement remain committed to their cause. They see themselves as part of a larger societal transformation aimed at preserving conservative values in an increasingly secular and liberal environment. This commitment is reflected in their personal and professional choices, such as Josh Abbotoy’s relocation to Tennessee to cultivate conservative communities and promote Christian culture.

For many members of the movement, this shift represents a deeper longing for rootedness and tradition in an era of rapid societal change. By prioritizing community, faith, and shared values, they hope to create a lasting legacy that will shape the future of America. This commitment to building a new cultural and political landscape is driving their actions and reshaping the conservative movement in the United States.
