In an interview with Boston radio station WBUR, Moulton emphasized the need for new leaders to rise up and challenge Donald Trump, saying, “President Biden has done enormous service to our country, but now is the time for him to step aside.” His stance was later confirmed by his spokeswoman, Sydney Simon.
While Moulton has called for Biden to bow out, he has not yet named a successor or outlined the process for selecting a new nominee. The congressman, who ran a presidential campaign in 2019, is the latest in a string of House Democrats to voice concerns about Biden’s candidacy.
Moulton’s call to action is gaining momentum, with other House Democrats like Lloyd Doggett of Texas and Raúl M. Grijalva of Arizona also urging Biden to consider stepping down. While some have expressed reservations about Biden’s chances in November, Moulton is taking a more decisive stance.
Having previously run against Biden in the Democratic primary, Moulton’s perspective brings a unique insight to the conversation.
