Among Ross’s many remarkable courses, Pinehurst No. 2 stands out as one of his finest creations. It is often considered his masterpiece, drawing praise from golf enthusiasts and experts alike.
The unique soil composition of Pinehurst, ideal for golf course construction, captivated Ross and influenced his decision to focus on the area. His house adjacent to Pinehurst No. 2 became his design laboratory, where he experimented with course features and layouts.
While Pinehurst boasts several Ross-designed courses, including No. 1, No. 3, and No. 5, No. 2 remains the most revered among golf aficionados. Ross’s meticulous attention to detail and innovative course design set Pinehurst apart as a golfing destination.
